Exciting Day Trips in Our Neighbouring Cities

Kamloops is surrounded by exciting cities that are only a short drive away. You can head over to Kelowna for a day out with friends or spend the day summiting Sun Peaks.
With travel times for these locations varying between a 45-minute drive to a 2.5-hour road trip, transportation is something to keep in mind. It’s always best to look up the routes ahead of time to know which best suits you.
No car? No problem! The E-Bus runs all day for about $50 (round-trip) to Kelowna. The Sun Peaks shuttle service has you covered at https://www.sunpeaksresort.com/explore/getting-here-around/shuttles-transfers. However, we suggest carpooling with friends! Connect with other Kamloops locals and let the fun begin!

Kelowna

Your day trip to Kelowna starts early to get the most out of the day. Once transportation has been sorted out, grab your friends (new and old) and head downtown for a coffee and tea stop. Bean Scene Coffee shop’s roof patio has a wonderful community-oriented environment and is a great place to grab some snacks. You’ll need the energy for your walk around the downtown area and waterfront City Park (FREE parking on Sundays!). After, walk over to the brewery district for some craft micro brewers, bouquet wineries, and cider. Here are our top recommendations:

Redbird Brewing – 1080 Richter St
Bad Tattoo Brewery – 740 Clement Ave
Sandhill Wines – 1125 Richter St
BC Tree Fruits Cider Tasting Bar – 826 Vaughan Ave

Once you have explored the tasting options Kelowna is known for, you can check out the brand-new waterfront King Taps for dinner, or drive to West Kelowna and enjoy the classic Quails Gate Old Vines Restaurant. Enjoy the Okanagan lifestyle and all that Kelowna has to offer.

Note: Please enjoy all activities in moderation and within the legal age and limit.

Sun Peaks

Nothing screams ‘Winter in Kamloops’ like a day at Sun Peaks Resort. There’s plenty to do for the outdoor enthusiast such as skiing, snowboarding, touring the mountain, and exploring the village.
Enjoy the day your way!

The resort is made up of 3 mountains and over 150 runs ranging in difficulty to accommodate skiers and boarders of all skill levels. When the hunger starts to kick in you can make your way to any of the 20+ on-site restaurants the resort has to offer like 5Forty Cafe and Grill, which is located at the top of Sundance and Sunburst Express.
With a plethora of available activities, there’s always something new and fun to try. Develop a love for fat biking, snowshoeing, tubing, and more as the possibilities are endless.
Those looking for a more relaxed experience can make their way through the village and explore all the fun shops and lunch spots. Designer brands can be seen throughout many boutiques, and fresh food’s delicious smells are sure to grab your attention.
You can treat yourself to a luxurious spa visit (you deserve it!) to escape the cold at Westpine Massage and Wellness.
If you’re not in the mood for snow, there’s always something for you to do!

Vancouver

If you’re looking for a bit longer of a trip away why not visit one of Canada’s most exciting cities. Vancouver itself is not the only attraction the lower main land has. New Westminster, Langley and surrey have some great things to offer as well. If you feel like feeding your shopping addiction you could check out local shops in Vancouver or head out Guildford Town Centre (the Guildford mall) and maybe even see a movie at the landmark cinema across the street while you’re there. Do you see yourself as a adventure type or a lounging type? Because with options like the Capilano suspension bridge and having a chill evening at Stanley park maybe you could do both.

If shopping is not your things maybe going to the Vancouver aquarium or science world would interest you. Depending on the time of your trip if you find yourself around white rock in the summer be sure to check out the famous peer and treat yourself to one (or two…) of the many ice cream shops they have to offer.

Friends

These day trips are a perfect way to meet new people and make new friends. Connect with others in Kamloops looking for adventure in the chat and see where the day takes you. Be safe and have fun!
